Planning
Steve Martin Associates provides initial master planning and design development expertise to projects of all sizes. SMA’s team has extensive experience obtaining Land Use Permits for wineries, breweries, and distilleries in Sonoma, Napa, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties. Navigating the Use Permit process takes skill and expertise, but also strong working relationships with government agencies. Over the years, SMA has developed highly productive relationships with County, State, and Federal agencies involved in reviewing and permitting discretionary projects. These relationships and the resulting trust that SMA has earned means that SMA projects are streamlined through the permitting process.
Design
SMA’s design team consists of engineers, architects, land use planners, and CAD designers. Design services include master planning, civil, structural & wastewater engineering, and architecture. SMA provides a collaborative and creative experience for their clients to ensure that the final design represents the desired aesthetic, program, and corresponding budget for their project (of any size). Developing accurate cost estimates at each phase of design ensures the design is tracking the budget for a successful execution of the full project. SMA’s expertise and working relationships with numerous jurisdictions in Northern and Central California allows for a timely permitting process and project construction start.
Construction
For over 25 years, Steve Martin, PE has provided the services of Owner’s Representative and Construction Management for clients’ construction projects. Since 2009, Steve Martin Associates, Inc. has been a Class B General Building Contractor (license # 933134) and has been the builder of projects both designed by SMA or by other design professionals. SMA is a true Design-Lead-Build firm that can take a project from concept through design, permitting and construction. This approach allows for a speed of construction and efficiency of costs and services that are unparalleled. Unlike other Design-Build companies that contract out engineering and architecture services, SMA provides these professional services in-house. Field personnel at a construction site have direct lines of communication with the design engineer or architect in the office resulting in fast communication and problem solving. Owners have the ease of only one firm to coordinate with for both design and construction.
